Where will my book be sold?
All of our paperback and hardcover books are listed for sale by www.BarnesandNoble.com, www.Amazon.com and other internet online bookstores. The books are also sold from our own online bookstore. Print books are also available through the distributor Ingram.

Will my book be available in walk-in bookstores?
The best answer to that question is “sort of”. Because of the
competition for shelf space and several other business factors,
walk-in bookstores rarely stock print on demand books on their
shelves. Most bookstores will, however, accept special orders from
customers who request specific titles and obtain the books from the
book distributor Ingram.

How can I track sales of my book?
When we publish your book we will create an Author Sales account for you. This account (password protected) will allow you to monitor the sales of all of your listed paperback and hardcover books. The account shows sales since last royalty payment and the cumulative sales since each was first published. Sales figures are shown separately for each listed paperback and hardcover book and are updated whenever a sale from our store is processed (real time). Wholesale book sales such as those through Amazon will be posted to your account as soon as we are advised of the sale, usually within a week. Sales made directly to authors at the author discount price are not included.

Your publishing order form asks for personal information. Is it protected?
We have a strong policy of protecting the privacy of our authors and
customers. It is our belief that targeting unsolicited advertising to
our customers would cost us more in customer ill will than it would
benefit us in sales. We will never sell information collected from
you to third parties.

Can I include a photo or drawing in my book that I found on the internet?
Please be sure you either are the copyright owner of all material or
have the permission of the copyright owner to use their material for
commercial purposes. There is a common belief that any image found on
the internet is public domain and can be freely used. THIS IS NOT
TRUE! If you find an image you want to use you need to contact the
owner for permission. If the website has a section discussing image
use, please read it carefully. Many allow use for limited purposes
only. It is also very likely that you would need to contact the
copyright owner in any case because nearly all images displayed on
the internet are of a low resolution not suitable for printing.

I have a photo I took that I want to use in my book but it is in color. Is that ok?
We currently can print interior text in black and white only. Photos,
drawings and similar things are fine, however they will be printed as
grayscale (black and white). If you color items in the manuscript or
separately we will take care of converting to grayscale.

Do you scan photos or drawings for inside the book or to put on the cover?
Certainly! We will be happy to scan materials for your book and we
will also return them to you if desired. Please remember that, while
rare, it is always possible that items may be lost or damaged in the
mail and we are not responsible for any loss or damage.

My manuscript is typed, not in a computer file. Will you still publish it?
We prefer manuscripts to be in a computer file, however, we will scan a typed manuscript for publishing as long as the print is computer readable – pages
are not damaged or marked up, font is not cursive or complex, etc. Scanning service fee is $100.00 for 125 manuscript pages or less. Add $1.00 per page for
each additional page.

What type of files do you accept?
We prefer files in Microsoft Word. We can also easily use WordPerfect
or Works files. There are other less common files which we might be
able to use or we can give you advice on how to send in a format we
can use. Although not easy, we have even received manuscripts
embedded as the text of an email which we copied and used to create a
file. In other words, if you do not have one of the more common files
contact us and it is very likely we can work something out.

How can I estimate how many book pages my manuscript will convert to?
Word count is not a reliable way to estimate final page count. The
best way is to set to single space; font and size the same as you
will want printed; top, bottom, and both sides margins to two inches
for 6 by 9 inch book or top and bottom to two inches and sides to
2.25 inches for 5.5 by 8.5 inch book. Add seven for the front matter
pages we will probably add and you will have a good estimate of the
final page count. Please remember you do not have to do this for
submission to us, we will handle all formatting. Also, if you would
like you can simply email the manuscript file to us and we will be
glad to email you back an estimated page count.

What royalty rates do you pay?
We pay a royalty of 30% for sales from our store (direct sales) and 15% for sales through other retailers (wholesale sales) for paperbacks. For hardcover book sales we pay 25% for sales from our store and 10% for sales through other retailers. We pay royalty fees every month regardless of the amount, normally within 15 days after the end of the month. All royalty payments are computed based on the retail price of the book.

I have a website. Can I become an affiliate of yours?
We invite anyone with a web site to participate in our affiliates program, including authors with web pages promoting books we publish. You can easily create an affiliate account by going to our website Store and clicking the Affiliate Login link located in the upper left corner and then entering the required information. Of course you don’t want to forget to place the URL that is provided on your web page.
We will pay you five percent of all book sales made to customers who follow your affiliate link. Commissions are paid every month provided they are at least $5.00. Amounts less than $5.00 will be carried forward until the balance exceeds $5.00.
Authors who publish books through us should note that you can obtain an affiliate link which will carry customers from your promotional web page directly to your book in our bookstore.

Who sets the retail price for my book?
We have minimum retail prices established which are based on the
number of pages in the book when it is published. This covers the
cost of printing the book, royalty payment and our costs and profit
margin. You can find a table showing the prices by going to either
the Paperback or Hardcover tabs. You can set the retail price higher
than the minimum if you desire.

Do you give authors discounts when they purchase copies of their own books for promotional or other reasons?
When your book is ready for sale you will receive a special form for
ordering books at a discounted price. You can find a table showing
the prices by going to either the Paperback or Hardcover tabs. We
also give an additional discount for large quantity orders. Authors
who order 25 to 99 copies receive an additional five percent discount
off the price of the books. Orders for 100 to 249 copies receive a
ten percent discount off the price of the books. Orders for 250 or
more copies receive a twenty percent discount off the price of the
books.

Can I get my copyright registered?

your copyright we will be happy to submit the application for you. We charge $125.00 for this service which includes preparation of the application, payment
of the registration fee and submission of two copies of your book to the U.S. Copyright Office.

Can I have a Library of Congress Control Number assigned to my book?
The Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN) is a unique identification number assigned by the Library of Congress to the catalog
record it creates for each book in its catalog system used by most libraries. While assignment of a number does not guarantee libraries
will acquire your book, libraries seldom acquire books without an LCCN or CIP data. For a $50.00 fee we will arrange for assignment of
an LCCN to your book and submit a copy of it to the Library of Congress.

No. We are currently publishing US authors only.

Do you publish memoirs, autobiographies, biographies and similar works?
We do not publish memoirs, autobiographies, biographies and similar works. These types of works
typically create concerns for us related to potential legal difficulties resulting from the reactions of people and
situations discussed in them. While authors have primary legal liability for what they write, we strive to avoid the
possibility of getting involved as co-defendants in legal disputes.
