General Cover Information

An attractive cover is an important part of book publishing. We recognize that and will do everything we can to make sure when you publish a book with E-BookTime it will have a cover you can be proud to have your name on.

The template covers are primarily examples of how the artwork looks. We will do our best to customize to meet your needs. For example, if you select one of our templates and provide a picture to be centered on the front cover we can do that – and add a frame around it as well. If you provide your picture and author bio text for the back cover we can add that. Pictures can be sent as .jpg files or you can send the actual picture and we will scan and return to you. If you have special desires for the type of font used for any of the text or where text is placed, just let us know.

Not shown are solid color covers. We can do a cover in any color you desire. Just let us know what color you want, or even better, send us an example and we will do our very best to match it.

Custom Cover Submission

If you have the skills to design your own cover, or know someone who does, we would be happy to use your material to publish your book. The following is a little technical, so feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

We prefer to receive any cover art as .jpg or .psd files of 300 pixels per inch (or DPI depending on who you talk to) resolution.

If you are supplying for the front cover area only for a 5.5 by 8.5 inch size paperback book, the dimensions would be 5.625 inches wide by 8.75 inches high. For a full cover (front, back and spine) it would be an image approximately 11.75 inches wide by 8.75 inches high. The dimensions include 1/8 inch bleed for the outside edges.

If you are supplying for the front cover area only for a 6 by 9 inch size paperback book, the dimensions would be 6.125 inches wide by 9.25 inches high. For a full cover (front, back and spine) it would be an image approximately 12.75 inches wide by 9.25 inches high.

For the above full cover dimensions we say approximately because the exact size of the spine area varies depending upon the number of pages in the finished book. The dimensions we show allow for a spine width of .5 inches which should be reasonably close in most cases.

There should not be any essential parts of the image closer than 1/2 inch to any outside edge.

We normally overlay the barcode in the lower, center part of the back cover so nothing important should be in that area. If your design requires the barcode to be placed elsewhere, please let us know. It is 1 inch high by 1.75 inches wide.

As long as any images are reasonably close in size we can make adjustments on our end.
